Merry Christmas Nintendo!

After playing with the Wii for a day or so, I have to say that props gotta go to Nintendo, the most innovative gaming company out there. They create products for the future. The Wii is how computing will be and I can't wait!

The Nintendo DS is another such product; since its arrival it has taken over the hand held market with creative titles that appeal to everyone. Check out this cute video by Steve Garfield of his mom using the DS to play Brain Age!

Let Microsoft and Sony fight it out for yesterday's gamers; look to Nintendo to find tomorrow's.

The Magic of GO.

According to Buddhist teachings, man is unhappy because of attachments, called cravings. A better way is to embrace tightly but to let go easily. In other words, you should try to do everything you can to win the game, be it some aspect of the game of life or business or a real game like go. In the end, we may win some and lose some, but when we lose, it is time to let go and put it all in perspective. That way, we may lose but we will not be beaten. In go, we may lose a game, but through analysis and introspection, we can still benefit and use that knowledge and insight for a new game. - Rob Van Zeijst

Animal Crossing DS movie (Quicktime Required)

My two rug rats are spending Christmas day wirelessly connected together in the new game from Nintendo, Animal Crossing DS. If you haven't seen this game (or Mario Kart DS for that matter), you are missing the future of gaming.

With all the hype about the XBox 360 and the next gen consoles, its easy to forget just how revolutionary the Nintendo DS and the Playstation Portable are. One look at my kids, however, reminds me that the future is already in hand!

Touching is Good!

Nintendo's new game machine has hit the streets - I snagged two for my kid's Christmas gifts, but alas, they are still in the boxes!

For enjoyment, I have been playing around with Nintendo's Japanese DS site which, as usual, leaves its American counterpart in the dust for 'touchability'.

Too much to mention - go play for yourself (you'll need the Flash player)- but one section I really like is 'My First Touch!', which features a series of short Flash videos of some first encounters with the DS. Neat, simple concept and execution - too bad its in Japanese!
